The M/V HERMAN CROWN is a 50' x 18', twin screw, 500 HP towboat of all welded steel construction having a fixed pilothouse and a single level cabin.

Main Engines: Two General Motors model 6-110 diesel engines rated at 250 HP each.  Each engine is fitted with a pneumatic starter

 

Gearboxes: Allison model MH L starboard, MH R port. Ratio 4.5:1

 

Generator: Detroit model 2-71 engine fitted with a 12-volt electric starter, driving a 20 KW AC generator

 

Propellers: Two Kahlenberg, three blade, stainless steel, 48" x 40"

 

Tail Shafts: 4” steel with NCB sleeves at strut bearing and at packing glands

 

Fuel Oil Capacity: 2,400 gallons

 

Steering Rudders: Two

 

Backing Rudders: Four
